Mardis Gras facts a celebration held in New Orleans each year. in French means Fat Tuesday. began in 1699 when brought to the US by a French explorer. banned in New Orleans until 1823 when the US took over the city. banned again in the 1840-50s because of it’s party reputation.
More Facts put on hold again during WWI and throughout the 1920-30s because of the Great Depression. thrived through the 1940s, but canceled during WW2. Mardis Gras continues to thrive today.
