Should Men and women be sentenced the same for committing the exact same crime?

For years and years there have been many cases where a man and a women have been in court for committing the same crime and the man’s sentence always turns out worse than the women’s. Is that fair? Absolutely not. Now why is it that women and men don’t get sentenced the same? They committed the same crime the punishment should be the same, but for some reason it’s not. In an article I read it stated that according to research gender is the most significant factor in determining whether or not a person will be charged, prosecuted, and sentenced as well as the severity of the sentence.

Some Reasons why they get sentenced differently Women get shorter sentences because they are often custodial parents Men are seen as unfit parents if they commit a crime Gender bias tasks force Male judges favor women Women are more cooperative with government Women are viewed as accessories when they commit a crime with a man Women are viewed as more innocent because they’re less dangerous than men

How should we fix this problem In order to fix this problem there needs to be an equal amount of men and women judges because it is believed that if there were more women judges more women would go to jail. We also need multiple judges to look at the case so they can compare notes and get different opinions so they can come up with the proper sentence. We need to take out our bias and treat people who commit the same crime as the same exact person. Gender and race should not be a determining factor when it comes to justice for a crime.
