EN320 Presentation Overview

Score The EN320 Presentation will count as 20% towards your final grade. It is group work. Everyone should contribute. If some members of your group are not contributing please tell me as soon as possible.

Topics Please choose one of the following topics: The Key Steps in Job Application Job Application: From Start to Finish The Importance of Job Application Job Application Secrets A presentation based on your group project

Include You can include anything from class or anything based on new information or your own research You can take points from class and expand on them Or you can come up with a completely new topic

Score break down There will be 2 parts to your score of 20: /10 Presentation skills How professional you are as a group? How interesting your presentation is? Do you read like a robot or speak with emphasis? Did you prepare? How good is your timekeeping? How are the slides you prepared (if any)? /10 Relevance to the chosen title -How much information relevant to the chosen title is there? -Is there any new information in there? -Does it recap parts of the course?

Time limit The presentation should last 10-15 minutes. We have many groups to present, so you must be ready to present at your time slot. When 10-15 minutes have nearly run out I will warn you that you only gave a minute to finish. You must then conclude.

Failure to present If you fail to present, you will get 0.

Failure to present If you fail to present, you will get 0.

Computer You are responsible for checking that your slides are compatible with the computer beforehand. No extra time will be given, and it will affect your grade if there is a technical problem.

Tips Practice the presentation beforehand Have one member of the group control the time Introduce yourselves Make sure all your slides are on the computer BEFORE the presentations start Keep any text on the slides to a minimum (just key points) DO NOT read off paper. That will affect your grade. Key points on paper are acceptable Prezi.com is a good alternative to PowerPoint that can produce professional looking slides Keep any videos to a minimum (a couple of minutes maximum) and ask yourself ... are they really necessary?
