Start-Up Get your Chromebooks Go to my Webpage Go the 4th tab “MLA” Look at the links there which explain how to create an MLA formatted works cited page. You will need to create one for your research on the Puritans. Let me know if you have questions about how to do this.

Objective By the end of the period, students will have done research on the group known as the Puritans. They will write, based on that research, what they are able to discover about them; answering some basic questions about their lifestyle and beliefs. CCSS ELA RI 11.1, 11.4, 11.7 CCSS ELA W 11.7, 11.8

The Puritans What did the Puritans believe? Make a claim and back it up with evidence (facts and information from the web). Discover who the Puritans were and what they believed. Conduct research and write at least a page about the Puritans. Remember anything you copy word for word must be quoted and CITED and anything you summarize in your own words must be CITED.

You can write any information you discover and/or you may address some or all of the questions below. What is Puritanism? How did Puritans live? What was the family life like? What were their basic convictions/beliefs? What is predestination? What was daily life like? Why did Puritans come to the New World?

What type of government practices did they believe in? The Puritan's believed that the bible was God's True Law, and they had harsh interpretations of the scriptures. How did this effect their lives? Who granted forgiveness/ Who was responsible for evil deeds? What were humans supposed to control? What is the role of the minister?

Possible Resources You can start with the websites below and google other information if needed http://home.earthlink.net/~gfeldmeth/lec.pur.html http://nationalhumanitiescenter.org/tserve/eighteen/ekeyinfo/puritan.htm
