BASIC SCIENCE PROCESS SKILLS The basic science process skills are what people do when they do science

Observe Any information that we gather by using QUALITATIVE (the senses) or QUANTITATIVE (measurements and numbers) observation

Classify The organization of things into groups according to ways in which they are alike https://www.brainpop.com/science/diversityoflife/classification/

The process of sharing information with others Communicate The process of sharing information with others

Measure The process of making observations that can be stated in numerical terms (SI – International system) https://www.brainpop.com/science/matterandchemistry/measuringmatter/

a possible explanation Infer The process of drawing conclusions based on reasoning or past experience; a possible explanation

Predict A prediction is a guess what might happen based on observation ***Do not confuse PREDICTION and HYPOTHESIS*** A hypothesis is a possible explanation for a observation or problem that can further be tested by experimentation.   http://madaboutscience.weebly.com/prediction-vs-hypothesis.html

Critical Reasoning Every argument can be broken down into reasons and logic that support a claim. Facts and data are often stronger reasons than observations and opinions. Logical fallacies and personal biases can make any argument fall apart. https://www.brainpop.com/english/writing/criticalreasoning/
