Evaluation Question 4 and 5 The importance of audience

Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product? My audience for my college/school website would be parents because they make the final decision about where their child goes to secondary school.  It was important that I understood what parents wanted to know about their child’s potential secondary school. The audience, parents, would want to see all the appropriate information that would help persuade them to choose this school for their child’s education. Also they can use it to keep up to date with information about upcoming events like school photographs, parents evenings and non-uniform days etc. I feel like there would be a blend for my target audience including the majority as parents but the minority of staff and students. I think that it is designed for staff and students at the college to use during their college life, for resources etc.

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience? I attracted my audience by making sure the website looked professional. By creating a good first impression, the website will leave positive connotations in their mind about the college/school. This further would help persuade them to pick Newton Abbot College as their secondary school. Additionally, I made the website easy to navigate by including buttons that link to the suitable pages. This is because most parents live a busy lifestyle so they need to be able to access the information quickly and easily. By addressing my audience with a welcoming text, made sure the school appeared friendly to the parents. This would make the parents feel like that the school is a good environment that can support their child’s education. I did this by including elements specifically for the staff and students like the what’s on page so that they can keep updated with the events that are happening throughout the college.
