Broad: Universal Idea about the Subject Persuasive Essay English 3-4 Ms. Willis Salinas High School The following is an example of how to write a CONCLUSION for a persuasive. Please note the sentence frames and example sentences. Each sentence in your introduction has a purpose and helps support your claim. Specific: Thesis/Claim 1st sentence: Echoed Thesis Further illuminates your main argument 2nd sentence: Expand on the thesis by reiterating the two reasons used to support your argument 3rd sentence: Tie the thesis back to the universal hook. Make the reader think! YOUR IDEA IS CRITICAL Broad: Universal Idea about the Subject 4th sentence: End with a call to action. Now that you have presented all of this information, what do you want the reader to do with it?

Persuasive Essay English 3-4 Ms. Willis Salinas High School The following is an example of an INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH HOOK: Universal idea about the Subject. Must catch the reader’s attention. Can be a quote, a statistic, a profound statement about the subject, a short story (anecdote), or a question. ADDITION: Expand on the universal idea. Explain the quote or statistic, make a further statement about the profound idea, answer the question, or continue to tell the story. ADDITION: Give background information about the text. THESIS STATEMENT/CLAIM: Presents the claim about the subject and includes the two reasons for your argument.
