The Respiratory System By Andrea White, Cameron Constance, Caroline Stroud, and Karina Bravo

The Main Function The Respiratory System supplies blood with oxygen so the blood can then transport the oxygen to the rest of the body. The six major structures within the Respiratory System are the Alveoli, Bronchial Tubes, Lungs, Nasal Cavity, Larynx, and Trachea.

Alveoli Alveoli are tiny air sacs that exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide while breathing.

Bronchial Tubes Bronchial Tubes pass through the lungs and divide air ways. They connect the wide pipe to the lungs.

Lungs Lungs bring in oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. Oxygen is needed in the body to produce energy.

Nasal Cavity The nasal cavity is lined with mucus which helps keep it moist. Air is taken in through the nasal cavity and is transported down to the lungs.

Larynx The larynx consists of the vocal cords. It produces your voice, controls air flow, and controls the function of swallowing.

Trachea The Trachea allows airflow to the lungs. It transports the oxygen and air into the lungs and carbon dioxide.

Sickle Cell Anemia Oxygen is harder to transport trough the body from the respiratory system.
