Celebrities of the 1930’s

There were many amazing actors and actresses of this time period, and some of them are still well known now. Many of the celebrities you will see were in Academy Award winning movies.

Shirley Temple Shirley Temple was born April 23, 1928. She was a 1930’s child actress She began her film career in 1932 when she was four! In 1934 she received a special Juvenile Academy Award in February of 1935 for her amazing work as a child performer to motion pictures. Some movies she was in during the 1930s are Curly Top, Bright Eyes, The Little Princess, The Little Colonel, etc.

Clark Gable Clark was born on February 1, 1901. He was an American film actor during the 1930s. He was in many top movies during this time period. Such as Gone With the Wind, It Happened One Night, etc. He is mostly known for his outstanding role in Gone With the Wind, which is one of the most well known movies from the 1930s. Clack Gable is also known as “The King” of American film.

Joan Crawford Joan Crawford was born on March 23,1904. She was an American television and movie star, who also danced. She started off as a dancer on Broadway. By the end of the 1920s she was already looking into being in television and movies. Joan has been in many silent movies during the 20s, but in the 30s she had mostly stopped being in silent movies. The top movies during the 1930s she has been in are Grand Hotel, The Women, Possessed, Mannequin, Rain, etc. Clark Gable And Joan were in many movies together as well.

Bette Davis Bette Davis was born on April 5,1908. She was an American film actress. She appeared in many Broadway shows before she moved to Hollywood in 1930. She joined the Warner Bros in 1932 after her movies made with other producers were not successful. She had received awards on her behalf for being one of the best actresses of all time. Some popular movies during the 1930s that she has appeared in are Jezebel, Dark Victory, Marked Woman, Of Human Bondage, etc.

Gary Cooper Gary Cooper was born on May 7, 1901. He was an American movie actor that was in many feature films. He was in many early silent films before he was ever in a sound picture movie. He became a well known actor in 1929 when he was in his first sound movie The Virginian. During the 1930s he became one of the big movie actors names after he appeared in movies such as A Farewell to Arms, Morocco, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife, Design for Living, etc.

Claudette Colbert Claudette Colbert was born on September 13, 1903 in France. She moved to the US when she was three. She started off on Broadway during the 1920s. She then went on to work with Paramount Pictures, and then her career as an actress took off. Claudette was in over 60 movies. Here are some of her most popular movies during the 1930s. It Happened One Night, Cleopatra, Private Worlds, Imitation of Life, Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife, etc.
