Thinking Like a Historian What is important in History?

Thinking Like a Historian To start class I want you to define the word impact?

Thinking like a Historian Is a way of thinking about events we will use throughout this year in U.S. History It is used as a way to help students critically understand events, rather than just names and dates

Activity I want you to create a top 5 list of the most impactful events in U.S. History For fun I also want you to create a top 5 for your life so far After everyone is completed we will take a tally and discuss each event and if it applies in Thinking Like a Historian

Events Significance Big events often have a Cause and Effect providing the How and Why? To truly understand these events you need to look Through Their Eyes. To get a sense of perspective!

Events Significance Turning Points- How did this event shape future decisions? Change and Continuity- Did this change the way people lived their lives? Using the Past- Does this event helped us make sense of the present?
