How can you use metric units to measure mass? Chapter 1.6 How can you use metric units to measure mass?

What is a mass? Mass – the amount of material an object has. How do you measure mass? You can use a balance or an electronic scale.

Gram The metric system, the gram is the basic unit of mass.

MASS 1 cm3 of water has the same mass as a wooden match or a small paper clip. 1cm3 water = 1 match = 1 paper clip 1g = 1g = 1g 1cm3 1cm3 1cm3

Mass Equivalents 1 kilogram (kg) 1,000g 1 centigram (cg) 1 milligram (mg) 1/1,000g (0.001g)
