Narrative Writing #1 Problem: “I don’t know how to begin!!!” First of all, what topic would this story have? Would it be about greed, overcoming challenges, growing up, cruelty, loneliness, etc.?

Topic Ideas: Risk Taking, perseverance, friendship, learning from mistakes First Line 1st Person POV: “Oh -----!” is all I remember being able to say before everything went dark. “Watch this,” I said to the guys and headed for the railing. First Line Not Spoken I never imagined that my life would change forever that day; it began like every other Saturday. Why is it that everyone is around when I happen to do something stupid?

The First Line Option #1 What would the first line of the story be? Use the person/animal in the photo as the speaker. You will write that first line using 1st person. What would that person/animal be saying in that moment? It should allow you to eventually link in to your chosen topic.

The First Line Option #2 Now write a first line that is not spoken but that would still set the scene.
