Holy Grape Juice Stain!!!!!! By: Kylie Pyles period 5 science

Question The question I am testing is which cleaner will get the GRAPE JUICE stain out ??? Well let’s find out…..

Background I chose this topic because I figured this could help many people figure out the best cleaners to buy. Also because, when my brother and I were little we spilled things a lot so this can help others know the best product to use.

Hypothesis If I use oxi clean then I think that it will clean the best because they have a lot of commercials that say they can get the tough stains out.

Variables The variables are the different types of cleaners used (oxi clean, tide, shout, resolve.)

Procedure / Materials 1) Get the graphs for info. 2) Get the white fabric to pour the grape juice on 3) Get the welches grape juice to poor on fabric 4) Get a cylinder to measure and make sure each cloth gets the same amount of grape juice 5) Get all 4 cleaners to get ready to test 6) Then pour grape juice on fabric with cylinder measuring 7) Then use cleaners to get stain out 8) Then use the other cleaners and repeat steps 6-8. The materials is a cylinder to measure the amount of grape juice, the welches grape juice, the cleaners (oxi clean, tide, resolve, shout), and (4) sponges, then fabric swatches.

Data SHOUT RESOLVE TIDE OXI CLEAN The shout turned the grape juice blue. The resolve only removed the grape juice a little. The tide made a bigger difference than the resolve. The oxi clean is the best. It didn’t remove the stain completely but it was better than the other cleaners.

Conclusion The question is which cleaner (oxi clean, tide, resolve, shout) gets the grape juice stain out. My experiment, was to pour the grape juice on a piece of fabric, then I used a cylinder to measure the amount of grape juice I poured on the fabric. The data I collected was that the shout cleaner made the grape juice turn BLUE. The resolve didn’t really change that much just a little lighter in color. The tide made a difference it became lighter but not the best. The oxi clean worked the best, it didn’t remove the stain completely but removed more than the other cleaners. So, with the data I collected my hypothesis is correct, I predicted that oxi clean would be the best because of the commercials i’ve seen. What I learned is that no cleaner is a match for the grape juice stain and it is very difficult to get out. If I were to do anything differently I would try to use water and vinegar, as I’ve also heard that helps removes stains.
