DNA. What is DNA? DNA is found in all living cells – It controls all functions inside a cell – It stores all the genetic information for an entire living.
DNA: the blueprint of life. Where do you get your DNA? DNA is passed from parent to offspring. Where do we find DNA? DNA is in the nucleus of every cell.

Cell Organelles Review

Genes Segments of chromosomes that are the genetic code of the cell. There are about 25,000 in each human cell.

Genes Where are the genes found? ON THE CHROMOSOMES INSIDE THE NUCLEUS

Nucleus Control-center of the cell that controls all the cell’s activities, including growth and reproduction.

Nucleus The nucleus is like the brains of the cell that does what? CONTROLS EATING, MOVEMENT, AND REPRODUCTION The nucleus is often called the control center of the cell- why do you think that is? BECAUSE IT CONTROLS THINGS Why is the Nucleus usually not found near the cell membrane? FOR PROTECTION What important thing does the nucleus hold? GENETIC INFORMATION: CHROMOSOMES AND GENES

CHROMOSOMES Thread-like fibers in the nucleus that hold the DNA (genetic code) of the cell.

CHROMOSOMES Inside what part of the cell are chromosomes found? NUCLEUS How many pairs of chromosomes are found inside our cells? 23 What do chromosomes do for a cell? HOLD THE GENETIC INFORMATION, DNA

DNA DNA is the genetic material that carries information about an organism and is passed from parent to offspring

DNA Where is DNA found? Most the DNA found in a cell is found in the cell’s nucleus What shape does the DNA molecule take? The shape of the DNA molecule is described as a double helix. What does this shape look like? The double helix sort of looks like a twisted ladder.
