What is Design? The word “design” is often used as a generic term that refers to anything that was made by a conscious human effort. Design is also a process.

Isometric Views of Cube Combinations

Isometric Views of 2 Designs

Peer Review

Orthographic View of Chosen Design

Reasons for Choosing the Best Design More interlocking pieces Looks better aesthetically More complex

Changes Made to Design Made it clearer that there was a hole in one of the pieces in the isometric drawing

Conclusion 1. Why is it so important for a designer to think of multiple solutions to a design problem? In case one solution doesn’t end up working, to be able to 2. What steps did you take to determine the exact number of possible combinations for each set of cubes? There are 6 sides on a cube, so if you have 2 cubes you would technically have 36 possibilities, but most of them look the same as the others due to it just being a different side of the cube so I would say there are 6 possibilities. And so on. 3. Why is it important to sketch your ideas on paper and sign and date the document? It’s important in order to prove that it is your design, if someone has the same design as yours, it serves as proof that it was really yours.

Conclusion 2 Why is it important to model an idea before making a final prototype? It is important because you need to work out all of the problems with the design before putting something together. If you put together a faulty prototype, then you wasted time putting together something more complex than just modeling it and working out the problems before starting the final prototype that you will submit. Based on your experiences during the completion of the Puzzle Design Challenge, what is meant when someone says, “I used a design process to solve the problem at hand”? Explain your answer, using examples from the work you completed. This means that they encountered a problem and defined it. Then they brainstormed how they could solve it. Then they researched and generated ideas about how to fix this problem. Then they had to identify the criteria and constraints, about what they have to do and what they can’t do. Then with the knowledge of all these things, they explore the possibilities that could solve this problem. Then you choose which possibility would be the best approach to the problem. After that, you make/draw a design proposal about what you want to do to solve the problem. Then you make a model or a prototype of what you want to create to solve the problem to give you a 3D visual on your design. After that you go back to the constraints and criteria and test your design based on that. Then you fix the problems that you found with your prototype, and refine the design. Then you remake the model, and then finally communicate your results. What else could the furniture company do with the scrap used to make your puzzle cube? The furniture company can sell my design in order to make money. Then they could sell the rest. Or they could make another design with it. If your design were to be mass-produced, would hardwood cubes be the best material from which to construct the puzzle pieces? Explain your answer. As stated in the directions, the hardwood is expensive, so I do not think it would be the best to construct it out of. Colored Plastic might be the best material to use What forms of technical communication did you utilize during your work on the Puzzle Design Challenge? We used autodesk to be able to present our puzzle cube design. We also drew it on paper in isometric and orthographic views and made a model of it out of cubes.
