Integers What are they?

Integers are the next bigger set of numbers after whole numbers Integers are the next bigger set of numbers after whole numbers. Remember whole numbers are {0, 1, 2, 3, …} Integers are all of this set plus all the opposites (or negatives) of all the numbers. {…, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, …}

Size order Just like with whole numbers, the further left on the number line you are the smaller the number and the further right, the larger. … -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 …  Smaller Larger 

Example −14<3 −24>−32 5>−93 It can be useful to think in terms of temperature and the one that would be warmer is the bigger one, 3 degrees is warmer than -14 for example.
