Senior Service Learning - Project Name Anthony Juarez Senior Service Learning - Project Name

Introduce Yourself I take Honors Choir, Speech, AP Econ, Trig, Education Professions. I participate in Theater and Choir. I am apart of the Reitz Soccer and enjoy playing intramural basketball. I am also a Link Leader. I am in the National Honor Society, and Thespian Society.

Introduce Yourself Future Plans I plan on attending either Ball State or Butler University for college. I plan on staying active in theater while in college. I plan on pursuing Secondary Education as my major.

Community Organization I went to Tekoppel when I was in elementary school. They have a close family and help donate clothing for kids during the year and run food drives during the holidays. They are known for their basketball and choir programs. They are aslo known for their various holiday fundraisers.

Community Organization Mentor My mentor was Mrs. Clefta White. She is in charge of Tekoppel Daycare. I’ve known her since I was in school. She is very helpful and works well with my schedule. She has taught a lot about working with children.

Project What did you do? I tutored various kids at the daycare. I would take them outside or on the stage and we would work on homework or read books. I helped them strengthen what they struggled with in school.

Project Challenges The only problem I had was some kids being too distracted while we were working. I overcame this by taking them to Mrs. White's office where there is no distractions. Successes The main success I had was watching the kids improve. It made me feel good when I saw the kids master what they had struggled with. This strengthen my resolve to be a teacher.

Project

Project Personal growth This made me mature as an educator. Kids need positive praise and help to succeed in school, and school sytems need people who are passionate about teaching. This project was a great preview to my career as an educator.

Conclusion Education is important. I want to help people succeed. I want to inspire kids to reach their full potential, even beyond. Education is an important and often unappreciated profession, and it is vital in today’s society. This project has helped me tremendously in making my passion for education grow.
