My Philosophy of Teaching Amanda Drews

Quote “True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own.” ― Nikos Kazantzakis

Why I Want to Teach Help children reach their potential Challenge students beyond what they feel is possible Inspire curiosity “Pay it forward”-continue what teachers have done for me

I Believe… Teachers should set and maintain high expectations. Students learn best in a caring and comfortable environment. Learning occurs when content is relevant and connected to students’ lives. All children are capable of learning. Communication is key!

Methodology Keep communication open Create respectful classroom community Create newsletters, class books, etc. so every student is a contributor to the class. Assist students in making connections between learning and their lives Vary instruction for various learning styles Model lifelong learning

My philosophy will continue to evolve. However, one thing will stay the same… “TEACHING is the one profession that creates all other professions!” -Unknown
