Comparison/Contrast Out-of-Class Essay #2

Pre-Thought Think of an event in which you had either low or high expectations going in, but the reality of the event was quite different. Free write for two minutes on this. Think of a life-changing experience you’ve gone through. Something that… changed your life. Make a brainstorm list for this experience for two minutes.

Prompt Write a Comparison/Contrast essay on ONE of the following prompts: Compare and contrast the expectations and reality of a fleeting event. A day at Disneyland Going to the dentist’s office Compare and contrast your life before and after a life- changing experience. Graduation A move to another city/country

Requirements Don’t just talk about how similar or how different something is— you must find similarities and differences between your two subjects. Organize your paper—for a review of the methods, see page 308 in PR. 2-3 pages in length MLA Format Remember to have an interesting title. Complete a prewriting exercise! This must be turned in with your rough draft on October 28th. The final draft, with original rough draft and prewriting attached, is due October 30th.
