Tips for Strengthening Arguments Sort your evidence by reason Rank your evidence from strongest to weakest Decide on the order

Pick a reason. What evidence supports this reason?

PREPARING FOR A DEBATE Jot down all the reasons you can think of to support your opinion Sort your reasons. Group similar reasons. Put them in order, saving your best for last Jot down your final boxes and bullets. Pull out all your best evidence for each reason. Consider how the other side might respond with a counter- argument. Write up a rebuttal, or what you will say in response.

Judges… Which argument is stronger, which one do you find more compelling? Listen carefully to reasons and evidence!
