Have you filled a bucket today? Westport Middle School Advisory Lesson

Background Information The idea is that everyone in the world carries around an invisible bucket. The bucket is a metaphor for how we feel about ourselves.

Background Information That bucket can either be filled or dipped into. When our buckets are full, we feel happy and have high self-esteem. When our buckets are empty, we have negative feelings about ourselves. When we are kind to others, we fill their buckets, which in turn fills our own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv3_IN968iM

Have you filled a bucket today? Independently or with a partner, complete the worksheet by answering the questions. Give at least five ways for the first three questions.

Drops I am going to give you a “drop” for you to put in someone’s bucket. At the top of the drop, write the person’s name.

Drops Give that person a compliment by writing down something you admire about that person. You were working really hard in class. You always try to include others. You are a good friend. You are kind, funny, artistic, sweet, caring, etc.
