The Kindergarten Weekly News Writing and Handwriting Header Type here! The Kindergarten Weekly News 11/5/18-11/9/18 This Week’s Themes: The unit question for our 2nd reading unit is… How are animals and plants unique? What is unique about how pumpkins grow? We will do some fun pumpkin projects. Math Essential Question: What is the difference between 2-D and 3-D shapes? Objective: Identify, classify, and categorize 2-D and 3-D shapes. Use essential terminology: above, below, in front of, beside and behind. Writing and Handwriting Writing: Journals (second stage of writing) which is drawing pictures and writing letters or words (sounding out words on their own phonetically) that align with prompt given by teacher. PSF writing drill- writing the CVC sounds for words given. Handwriting Without Tears: u, i, e Reading and Literature Story- Jack and the Beanstalk Comprehension: Realism and Fantasy Conventions: Adjectives Amazing Words: beanstalk, ogre, lad naughty, magic, lend Unit Question: What is unique about plants and animals? Question of the week? How are real and make believe plants alike? Sight Words: he, for, and, in Phonological Awareness: Counting words in a sentence, initial sounds, final sounds, rhyming, blending sounds and clapping syllables Genre: Fairy Tale Decodable Book: Tim and Sam Science: Fall/Pumpkins
