An unstoppable force in our lives Can you manage it? Change & Transition An unstoppable force in our lives Can you manage it?

Introduction Which do you prefer: change & variety or stability & security? What changes can anticipate to occur over the course of your life? Statistics show that people are going through 12-25 job changes throughout the course of their work lives. Expect this to happen to you!

How many of you have... Changed schools? Changed homes? Changed towns? What other common changes have you gone through?

Experiencing Change If you have gone through more change, you have developed more skills to deal with change and are therefore better equipped to cope with change in the future. Assignment: Complete Change Inventory worksheet based on one change you have gone through in your life.

Definitions Change: based on an external event. Something happens that results in a fundamental difference in your situation. How you react and adjust to the change is a transition. Transition: the process people go through when making a change. What are some examples of each?

Activity In small groups (2 or 3) create a top ten list of how people can prepare for changes. Use the insights you have gained from transitions you have managed in the past. Use examples from other people you know. Use what you have learned so far in CALM. Use your imagination!!
