Metric System Review Notes

The Metric System - based on powers of 10 - add prefixes to base unit to indicate size of measurement - to change between units, multiply or divide by powers of 10, or simply move the decimal point to the left or right Base Units - meter = length - gram = mass - liter = volume Prefixes - kilo- = k = 1000 - hecto- = h = 100 - deka- = D = 10 - deci- = d = 0.1 or 1/10 - centi- = c = 0.01 or 1/100 - milli- = m = 0.001 or 1/1000

Metric Conversions k -> h -> D -> base -> d -> c -> m x10 x10 x10 x10 x10 x10 k <- h <- D <- base <- d <- c <- m /10 /10 /10 /10 /10 /10
