Presentation transcript:

Bell Ringer: Thursday, February 2nd In ~3-5 sentences, create a summary of chapter 12. In chapter 12, the concept of happiness keeps popping up... “What fun it would be," he thought, "if one didn't have to think about happiness!" "Well, I'd rather be unhappy than have the sort of false, lying happiness you were having here." “You've got to be hurt and upset; otherwise you can't think of the really good, penetrating, X-rayish phrases.” Answer: What role does happiness have in the World State? In your opinion, what role should happiness have in a society? Is a society in which people are always happy a preferable one? Why/why not?

For the hour... Read chapters 13 and 14 and fill out your study guide questions. Remember, I’ll randomly collect your study guide for a grade... If you finish with this, you can start reading on through chapters 15 and 16 (that way, you’ll have less reading this weekend). The classroom should remain at a quiet level so it’s easy for everyone to read and work without being distracted. See you tomorrow! Enjoy your day.
