Visitors in the Building Advisory Westport Middle School

Icebreaker: Silly Sally This is a brain teaser. See how many students can figure out the pattern without giving it away to anyone else. Listen to what Silly Sally likes and doesn’t like. What is the pattern? Silly Sally likes doors but not windows Silly Sally likes puppies but not dogs Silly Sally likes the pool but not water Silly Sally likes Jeeps but not cars Silly Sally likes kittens but not cats Silly Sally likes the floor but not the ceiling

Learning Target and Agenda LT: I can demonstrate behaviors appropriate for visitors in the building. Agenda: Discuss having visitors in the building. Activity- SOAR and Conversation Starters Exit Ticket

Visitors in the Building This week, we will have many visitors in our building from the Kentucky Department of Education. The KDE visits schools all over Kentucky. People may come into your classrooms and observe your learning. They may also ask you questions about your learning.

Expectations What does SOAR stand for? Stay on Task Offer Your Best Act Responsibly Respect Does the Rest

What are the SOAR expectations for visitors in the building? With a partner, brainstorm what the SOAR expectations would look like for each letter. Stay on Task– What would this look like? Offer Your Best– What would this look like? Act Responsibly– What would this look like? Respect Does the Rest– What would this look like?

Activity- SOAR with Visitors With your partner, draw scenes about what SOAR looks like with visitors. You can use stick figures and word bubbles. Be ready to share with the class.
