Epidemiologist is someone who studies the patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in defined populations

Virologist is someone who studies viruses

Virulent is an extremely severe or harmful virus

Epidemic: a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time
