Overview NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) gives community college STEM students a NASA experience and encourages them to finish a 2-year degree or transfer to a 4-year university to pursue a NASA-related field or career. During the program, students participate in NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar by completing STEM-based activities online to become eligible for the NASA on Campus NCAS Event. To participate you must be: A US Citizen At least 18 yrs. of age and a high school graduate A registered community college student during the program Have completed 9 or more hours of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) classes Able to commit to a 5-week online experience Available for the NASA On Campus NCAS Event. Why Community College Students? NASA is particularly interested in community college students because of the unique set of skills you bring to the table like multi-tasking and perseverance: Community college students tend to have the qualities NASA is looking for in its workforce: holding full-time jobs, family responsibilities, active in the community, possibly a veteran, all while keeping education as a main goal. To NASA that means you are someone who is not only smart and practical, but you know the value of hard work and persistence which is what NASA cultivates in its workforce. How much does the program cost? The online course is free. If you are selected for the onsite experience, will you pay a $35 registration fee. How many students will be selected? We can host 30-40 participants. You must have a 70% to be eligible, but the top scoring students are selected from the online session.

Online Course Guided, self-paced course – about 25 hours over 5 weeks Online Instructional Assistants provide course support Participate in discussions with other students online Chat Live with NASA experts in a 3-part lecture series Earn at least a 70% average to qualify for onsite experience Please note a non-refundable $35 fee will be collected for the onsite portion to materials. Course Themes What is the structure of the online course? The online portion is a 5-week non-credit course. It is guided, self-paced with deadlines. Subject matter experts present a 3-part lecture series. Instructional Assistants will answer any questions you have and remind you of due dates.

Campus Event Network with like-minded community college students and industry or university researchers Tour Labs and Facilities Learn about NASA internships Compete in a robotic engineering design challenge Present to a panel of judges What if I have classes during the onsite?
