Prepositional Phrases & The Ablative Case

Prepositional Phrases Phrases that express the position of a noun. If the SIDSPACE prepositions are used, it uses the ablative, other prepositions use the accusative. Prepositions Prepositions with the Ablative Prepositions with the Accusative Essential details Essential details Essential details Preposition: tells the position of the noun it comes before. in, on, under, into Latin prepositions take the accusative or the ablative case. ad hortum to the garden in horto in the garden The Ablative case is used with the SIDSPACE prepositions. Sine - without In – in, on De – down from, about Sub - under Pro - in front of, for A, Ab - from, away from Cum - with E, Ex – out of, from The Accusative case is used with all other prepositions. NOTE BENE: When “in” means “into” the accusative case is used.
