2 Step Equations Grade 6 Algebra Unit

Recap... - What is a variable? - What do we know about equations? - What is the order of operations

Minds on... Find the solution where x=5 - 3(x+6) - (15-x)÷2

Minds on... Solve for x - x+15=27 - 6x=42 -2x+5=25

Can we find the value of one variable (x) when there are two variables in the equation (x) and (y)? Ex. 3(x+y)=27

If we are given the value of one variable (y), we can find the value of another variable (x). Let’s say y= 4, how could we solve for x? 3(x+y)=27

You need to insert the value of the known variable (y) into the equation, then isolate for the unknown variable (x). y= 4 3(x+y)=27

Try these... Solve for x, where y= 4 2y+3x=23 2x-2y=2
