Parallel & perpendicular By: Brooke Cox

Venn diagram Perpendicular & parallel Equal distance Same slope Does not touch -They intersect -Intersect at a 90 degree angles -They have opposite reciprocals -Parallel lines become perpendicular when one line is rotated 90 degrees

Parallel lines Parallel lines are lines that will never touch. They have same slope, and equal distance. They don’t intersect, they go on an on forever and never meet each other. Parallel lines also lie on the same plane.

Parallel lines in the real world One thing that contains parallel line are bulletin boards, railroad tracks, and notebook paper. They all contain parallel lines because they are lines with equal distance, and are lines that can go on forever.

Perpendicular lines Perpendicular lines are lines that can go on forever. These lines end up intersecting because of their directions. They intersect at 90 degree angles. They are lines that can go on an on. Perpendicular lines have opposite reciprocals.

Perpendicular lines in the real world Some real life examples that contains perpendicular lines are intersections, baseball field, and tiles as floors. They all contain perpendicular lines and cross each other.
