https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J38SJqZ-nYc Let’s discuss… Why were some colonists not willing to rebel against the British? Do you agree or disagree with those reasons? If you had been a colonist, would you have revolted? Why or why not? Many American colonists felt the same way as Mel Gibson’s character in the video clip. They were reluctant to revolt for many reasons. Your job is to write a letter to Thomas Kent, a colonist in South Carolina. Persuade him that joining the rebellion against the British is the best thing to do and that he must support the American Revolution.

Your assignment Write a letter ¾ of a page long persuading Thomas Kent, a colonist, to revolt Your letter must be at least 4 paragraphs: Intro-what is the entire letter going to be about? Broadly, why do you think he should join the fight? Body Paragraph 1- Discuss England’s negative policies towards the colonies Body Paragraph 2- Discuss measures of rebellion the colonists have already taken Body paragraph 3- Discuss how a revolution will make their lives better (ex. A new kind of government) Each paragraph should contain appropriate historical facts and evidence! Make him believe in your cause!
