Presentation transcript:

Warm-Up Journal: List your 3 greatest personality traits/attributes. Examples: Intelligent, Honest, Kind, Brave, etc. Imagine you lived in a world where your career was assigned to you based on your personality attributes. You don’t get to pick your job based on your interests, and you don’t get to refuse what “they” tell you to do. What job do you think someone would assign you based on your personality? How would you feel about that job?

Graphic Organizer Fold your paper into a brochure. On the top of the front panel, write: “The Giver” Your Name ***Leave white space below for a closing activity after the film.

Graphic Organizer Open up your paper so you are looking at the inside 3 panels. On the left panel, at the top, write: Dystopia: List all the dystopian characteristics you see as you watch. On the middle panel, at the top, write: Jonas: List all the things he says/does/thinks that make him a protagonist. On the right panel, at the top, write: Connections: Make note of text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections.

Graphic Organizer Flip your paper over, so you are looking at the back. Your cover page should be on the far right. On the left panel, at the top, write: Summarizers. On the middle panel, at the top, write: Reflection Paragraph.

Summarizer If in the future, someone got to look back at our current society (the world we live in today) – just as the Receiver looks back at our current times in “The Giver” - - What about our current society would be the happy memories? - What about our current society would be the sad memories?
