Bringing Your Characters to Life Appearance, Expression, Gesture, Action, Feeling

Character’s EXPRESSION French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism – “candid” photography or “street” photography.

Character’s Appearance Sharbat Gula was one of the students in an informal school within the refugee camp; McCurry, rarely given the opportunity to photograph Afghan women, seized the opportunity and captured her image. She was approximately 12 years old at the time.

Character’s Gestures Photograph by famous war photographer James Nachtway. An Afghani woman mourns the death of her child.

Characters’ Feelings A famous photograph taken on the streets of Paris by Robert Doisneau. This photograph has been used for countless postcards and posters of Paris. And...gasp! It is rumoured to be a “set up” – the photographer saw the couple kissing, thought it would make a great photograph and asked for them to “pose” for it again.

Charcter’s Actions Army Spc. Joseph Patrick Dwyer, who captured America’s heart when photographed rescuing a young boy during the initial invasion of Iraq.
