Expectations during Labs

Will be Marked on 4 components Preparation Work Habits Product Clean up

Preparation Marks will be deducted if: student is late to class Hair isn`t pulled back and/or doesn`t have a hair elastic student hasn`t put on their apron unprepared for class ie: no binder, pencil Student hasn`t washed their hands before preparing food long sleeves haven`t been rolled up bags were left on the floor in their unit and brought to class Students need to be reminded to get a recipe book

Work Habit Marks will be deducted if: students are using incorrect technique students are not working cooperatively together students have a poor attitude and/or swearing Students are not participating or one partner is doing all the cooking students are not following instructions and have poor time management students are off task Student is on their cell phone

Product Marks will be deducted if: there product is not completed in time the product doesn`t look like the anticipated product The appearance of the product looks off – undercooked, overcooked, too much baking soda etc Texture of product is off ex, tunnels in muffins, air pockets in breads

Clean up Marks will be deducted if: The counter tops are dirty or have food still on them The floor contains food or hasn`t been swept The sink is still wet The dishes were put away still dirty, wet or cleaned improperly the cooking utensils are not put away in appropriate places the cloths are still in the sink when they are suppose to be in the laundry bin.

Arriving to Labs If you arrive before the second bell Grab an Apron from the back Grab a recipe book for you and your partner Depending on your duty begin preparation for it i.e dishwasher can fill up the sink, unit housekeeper can begin to get the measurements out in preparation of getting the ingredients for the unit

First 5 minutes of a lab After the second bell has gone: Be sitting in your unit to await any last minute instruction Hand in any assignments that may be due Opportunity to ask any questions or to clarify any uncertainties before the lab

Last 5 minutes of lab Before the bell goes: Have the special duties person from the unit across from you, come check out your unit. Once they approve, call me over to check your unit You may not leave until I have cleared your unit to do so (even if the bell has gone) Place recipe books back Hang up aprons Blk H – stack chairs in your unit
