The Catholic church has opposed abuse committed through child labour. Pope Leo XIII condemned the practice in his first social encyclical “Rerum Noverum” in 1981. IN June 2013 on World Day Against Child Labour Pope Francis launched an appeal against it. He called it a “deplorable phenomenon.” Catholic Church

Canada’s Role Participates in campaigns against Child Labour, (World Day Against Child Labour.) Supports the application of international standards that will protect kids from exploitation. Works with the International Labour Organization. Works with developing countries through its Securing the Future for Children and Youth Strategy. This includes support for education of young children. As well Canada is trying to get those in developing countries proper documentation that could help prevent exploitation, and allow for access to health and education resources.

Child Labour is something too common for the year we live in. We as a community need to take on a greater role in supporting the fight against Child labour Us as a community need to become more aware of what products are made by children and exclude buying those brands My Perspective
