Pernicious (Adj.) causing insidious harm or ruin; ruinous; injurious; hurtful Ex. The pernicious rage between the families often causes fighting in the streets of Verona.

Reconcile (V.) to win over to friendliness; cause to become amicable Ex. Friar Lawrence hopes the marriage of Romeo and Juliet will help to reconcile the hostile families.

Shroud (N.)a cloth or sheet in which a corpse is wrapped for burial. Juliet’s body is wrapped in a shroud before being placed into the Capulet tomb.

Banish(v) to expel from or relegate to a country or place by authoritative decree; condemn to exile Ex. By decree of Prince Escalus, Romeo was banished to Mantua. (Noun form – banishment)

lament V. to grieve; to feel or express sorrow or regret for Ex. While lamenting Romeo’s absence, Juliet formulates a plan and takes a potion giving her the appearance of death.
