WORDKIT: by Kailee Murphy

This device allows you to turn any surface into a touch screen, like a wall door couch or table. I think this would be very useful for anyone because, you can also speak to it because there is voice recognition. You can use it as a remote so you don’t have to get and you can use it to turn on and off your lights and things like that.

I think other people will like this because, it is very useful in everyday like channel surfing and other things like that. WordKit is pretty much projection based system that adds touch-based interactivity to any surface with the wave of the hand. You can use this system on almost any object with-out any specific things needing to be placed on it. You can use it on pretty much anything in your home. Such as a table, bed ,wall, door, desk and probably many other things.

Wordkit makes use of a paired depth camera and projector to make ordinary surfaces instantly interactive. Using this system, touch-based interactivity can, without prior calibration, be placed on nearly any unmodified surface literally with a wave of the hand, as can other new forms of sensed interaction. From a user perspective, such interfaces are easy enough to instantiate that they could, if desired, be recreated or modified “each time we sat down” by “painting” them next to us. From the programmer’s perspective, our system encapsulates these capabilities in a simple set of abstractions that make the creation of interfaces quick and easy. Further, it is extensible to new, custom interactors in a way that closely mimics conventional 2D graphical user interfaces, hiding much of the complexity of working in this new domain.

I think that wordkit would be a very useful item it your house home or office. THE END
