Group 5 Organic Ceramics

What are Organic Ceramics? The word Ceramic is derived from the Greek word Keramikos. They are typically crystalline in nature and are compounds formed between metallic and non-metallic elements. Ceramic materials are hard, porous, and brittle.

Types Of Ceramic Materials Ceramic products are usually divided into four sectors: Structural like Bricks Refractories like Furnaces Whitewares like Tableware's Technical is also known as Engineering

Example Of Whiteware Ceramics Bone china Earthenware

Example Of Whiteware Ceramics Porcelain Stoneware

Properties Ceramics have range of useful properties, including: High mechanical strength Dimensional stability Resistance to wear Resistance to corrosion or chemical attack

Properties Weathering resistance High working temperature Low or high thermal conductivity Good electrical insulation Dielectric and ferroelectric properties
