Mixtures

Vocab The dissolving medium in a solution is called the solvent, and the substance dissolved in a solution is called the solute. Suspension is a mixture in which the particles are so large that they settle out unless the mixture is constantly stirred or agitated. Colloids form when the particle size is in between those of solutions and suspensions.
