Who are the IRA and why do they hate England? L.O. To investigate the aims and crimes of the IRA By the end of this lesson... ALL OF US WILL be able to describe several IRA attacks and give a reason for these. (E-D) EVEN BETTER IF you can explain why the IRA attack England. (C-B) EXCELLENT IF you can judge why this has developed in the 20th century. (A-A*)

The Irish Republican Army have spent most of the last 100 years waging a war against England. Despite their name, they are not a part of the Irish military. Using the packs of news reports you have been given, you are going to complete the first column of the table you have been given.

WHAT DO THEY WANT, AND WHY? You are now going to fill in the second and third columns on your sheet by describing who the IRA are, and explaining what their aims are.
