World War One 1918

Russia Gets Out of the War The Bolshevik Revolution brought the Communists to power in Russia November 7th 1917 The Communists signed a separate peace with Germany Known as the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

German Spring Offensive 1918 The Germans rushed all their troops from the Russian front to the front in France Wanted to score a decisive victory before the American force grew too large The offensive begins March 21st 1918

Results Germans make huge gains but army strength falls from 5.1 million to 4.2 million Allies are hurt badly, but not broken, thanks to fresh American troops Soon the Allies will go on the offensive The Allies will begin their own offensive August 8th and will come close to invading Germany

The Red Baron His real name was Manfred von Ricthofen German pilot with 80 confirmed air combat victories He is shot by a single bullet while flying a mission on April 21st 1918 He manages to land, but dies shortly after
