Bellwork Friday 1/27/17 Write the name of each speaker for the remaining quotations on your quotation notes. If you haven’t turned in your essay yet, you need to do so. Follow the instructions on your grading checklist.

Assignment: Finish page 2 of the quotation notes using the following quotations. They are not in order as written here. You must determine which note explains each quotation and write it in the correct place. Fill in the blank on #3. Also, add the word “Paradox” to the quotation that begins “Lesser than Macbeth and greater.” Banquo questions whether evil beings (such as the witches) are capable of speaking truth. (distrust) Banquo comments that sometimes evil beings (such as the witches) use small truths to earn people’s trust so that they can then mislead them into an evil trap. (distrust) Macbeth doesn’t understand why he’s been given the title of thane of Cawdor since he thinks the thane of Cawdor still lives. This __________________ the possibility that Macbeth will take other positions of leadership (such as king) that do not rightly belong to him. Macbeth thinks that he will become king since the first two prophecies came true. The witches prophesy that Banquo’s descendants will be kings. Banquo wants to know his future, too. He is neither asking favors nor afraid of the witches. Banquo questions whether the witches are real. (disbelief)
