Motivation Passion: Music Why: Music is something a lot of students connect with and has several valuable uses within an English classroom. For teaching strategies it is a way to bring different cultures into the classroom, can be used in poetry units, and for text analysis. For classroom management strategies it can be used for brain breaks, to form groups, create atmosphere, and to improve retention and memory.

Goal One goal I have for the year long plan is to integrate effective grammar instruction. So far I haven’t encountered strategies for teaching grammar at the high school level that I find particularly engaging or effective. I really want to push my thinking on this subject and try to expand what I know about it.
