Food & Drinks Of The Colonial Times By: Cesar

Introduction In my slideshow I will tell you about food in the colonial times. In The Colonial times they had all kinds of different foods like corn, turkey, fish etc.

Food Corn and meat were the most important foods in the Colony however corn was much more important than meat. There where a lot of vegetables they use to eat and people still eat today, like corn, wheat, carrots, rice, barley, oats, squash, pumpkins, and some others. Another kind of food was fish including cod, flounder, trout, salmon, clams, and lobster.

Food (Continued) They also cooked a lot of meat in furnaces. Some meat that they cooked were turkey, duck, geese, ribs (pork and beef), beef, and other meats. Indians mainly ate vegetables like corn, pumpkins, squash, and maple from the maple trees. They ate more fish than meat.

Drinks In the 1600s and 1700s it was legal for children to drink Beer. Beer was one of the most popular drinks at the time. You could only get water from wells and fresh water sources like lakes, rivers, and streams.

Drinks (Continued) There were only a few types of drinks like beer, water, tea and sometimes milk. Water and beer were the main drinks followed by tea. Tea was one drink brought over from England.
