All motion is relative; that is, motion must be measured relative to a frame of reference. For example, if you’re sitting in a rowboat that is floating.
RELATIVE VELOCITY IN 2D. WARM UP A boat travels at a constant speed of 3 m/s on a river. The river’s current has a velocity of 2 m/s east. 1.If the boat.
All quantities in Physics can be categorized as either a scalar or a vector quantity. A scalar quantity has magnitude (amount) only without direction.

Relative and Resultant Velocity Aim: How do we calculate the resultant velocity of an object moving relative to other moving objects? Do Now: You are walking.
MAIN IDEA An object in circular motion has an acceleration toward the circle’s center due to an unbalanced force toward the circle’s center. Essential.
Teacher notes: EQ: How does motion (even constants) Change depending on how you look at it? We will discuss what a frame of reference is, and how it effects.

Relative Velocity

Relative Velocity relative velocity is the vector difference between the velocities of two objects. EX: you are in a school bus that is traveling at a velocity of 8 m/s. you walk with a velocity of 3 m/s toward the front of the bus. If a friend of yours is standing on the side of the road watching the bus with you on it go by he sees you going 11 m/s. Walking to the back = 5 m/s

Relative Velocity Ana and Sandra are riding on a ferry boat that is traveling east at a speed of 4.0 m/s. Sandra rolls a marble with a velocity of 0.75 m/s north, straight across the deck of the boat. What is the velocity of the marble relative to the water?
