Sample paragraph for Interactive Reading: Prompt: There are many different reasons doctors feel teenagers should be involved in sports. Should teenagers be involved in sports? What advantages are there to being involved in sports? Use evidence from the text to support your answer. Doctors agree that teenagers should be involved in sports. According to the article, if a child is active in a team sport, he can learn strong personality traits like being a good teammate and working well with others. Also, the article tells us the child can avoid health problems like obesity if he is involved in sports. One final thing sports can do for a teenager is teaching him to balance a busy schedule between school and the sport. Teenagers should be active in sports because those activities can make one’s life much better. Topic Sentence: One sentence that answers the prompt. Make your claim/ statement. Three supporting sentences with evidence from the text. Concluding Sentence: Wrap it up.
