The Particle Model of Matter

Component One All matter in all states is made of tiny particles. There are more particles in a given volume of a solid than there are in a liquid or a gas.

All Particles are moving Some shake in place and the ones in fluids flow over each other constantly.

Some particles are attracted to each other Some particles are more attracted to each other than others like those in water are attracted to salt but not to oil.

Particles Have space between them All particles have space between them. Some particles have more space between them than others. Like particles of a gas have more space between them than a liquid.

Explaining the mixing of substances Can dissolving be explained by the particle model of matter. How does change in temperature affect the rate of dissolving in a substance? How does changing the size of solute affect the rate of dissolving? How does agitation affect the rate of dissolving in a substance? How can each of these affects be explained using the particle model of matter?
