Presentation transcript:

Bell Ringer: Monday, November 21 I will do a binder check on Wednesday. We’ll be in computer lab 254 on Wednesday, so bring your binder. Put your Declaration draft on your desk. Copy the word for today… Congenial (adj) Definition: Pleasant or agreeable; suited to one’s needs, nature, or liking Sentence: Mark is a very congenial person – I can’t think of a single person who doesn’t love him!

Directions Pick one group member to be your writer (“Thomas Jefferson”). This person will copy the declaration onto the “parchment”. This person needs to have neat, legible handwriting. The Declaration may be printed OR written in cursive.

Directions, Continued. If you were not here on Friday and did NOT receive correspondence from your group, work hard to finish your section so it can be edited by the end of class. The rest of the group will be “editors”. Editing directions: Go in the correct order of the Declaration. Another group member will read your section out loud to the group. While reading, that group member will make any spelling/grammatical corrections, as necessary. After reading, discuss the following questions as a group: Does the section follow the format of the corresponding section on the Declaration of Independence (use the directions sheet as a guide)? Is there anything we want to remove from this section? Is there anything we want to add? When you are finished, hand the section to “Thomas Jefferson” to write on your piece of parchment. Work hard! The winning Declaration gets a spot on my wall AND a prize.

When you are finished… Everyone must SIGN the Declaration!
