Inter-University Council For East Africa (IUCEA) An institution of the East African Community (EAC) responsible for coordinating the development of higher education and research, whose roles include: Advising the EAC Partner States on higher education matters Facilitating networking among higher education institutions in the EAC Partner States, and with external institutions Facilitating maintenance of quality standards and harmonization of higher education systems for promoting regional integration. Role of IUCEA … Coordinating inter-university student exchange between EAC Partner States Coordinating mobility of academic staff between EAC Partner States as short-term visiting lecturers, external examiners and research collaborators. In undertaking its roles IUCEA works in close collaboration with the national commissions/councils for university/higher education in the EAC Partner States: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan

United for Knowledge and Prosperity ACE II PROJECT 2016 - 2021 IUCEA is the Regional Facilitation Unit (RFU) of the Eastern and Southern African Centers of Excellence (ACE II), which include 24 ACEs in 8 countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia) The Project Development Objectives (PDO) for ACE II is to establish and strengthen specialization and collaboration among a network of higher education institutions in the Eastern and Southern Africa region to deliver relevant and quality education and applied research to address key development challenges facing the region.
